Hi Readers,
I loved sharing chapters 32-39 with you today. Walk Two Moons is such a great story, isn't it? There are surprises and twists throughout. I hope you are enjoying it as much as I am.
Tonight, I would like you to contribute to a discussion about what we read today. What do you think about the things that were revealed today? How should Phoebe respond to what happened to her family? What did you think of Sal's kiss? What do you think of Mr. Birkway and the journals? You may comment on any of these things or add ideas of your own.
When you write, please don't forget to use proper spelling and grammar. This is not a place for instant message-speak. I will be grading for the content of your ideas as well as the way you have written them.
I can't wait to read what you have to say!
Love,
Mrs. Deutsch

ReplyDeleteI think that Mrs. Winterbottom should have told Mr.Winterbottom that she had a son before the 2 married. I also think that Mrs.Winterbottom should have organized the problem before she married somebody else. Mrs.Winterbottom did do the wrong thing, however she fixed later, so I think she is O.K. However I think that Mike didn't deserve to be treated so badly. Besides its Mrs.Winterbottom who did sex with somebody, but marry somebody else.
I think that Phoebe should've told her father what she and Sal had seen that day; that she had seen her mother and Mike. About Sal's kiss, I don't think that she was surprised when Ben kissed her, because he had been acting funny around her, and I think she knew that Ben liked her because a) from when Mr. Birkway read Ben's journal aloud to the whole class, and b) because he had been acting weird/funny around her. She did seem surprised, though, when she found out about Mike being Mrs. Winterbottom's son, and how Mrs. Partridge had been leaving the strange messages (of course, everybody seemed to be surprised at that). I can't wait 'till we finish the story tomorrow!!
ReplyDeleteI cant believe that mike is not the lunatic. And Sal kissing Ben that's just hard to believe.Clearly Ben likes Sal I wonder what will happen between them at the end.I hope we can write journals but not say whose journal it is that might be fun. I just cant wait to finish Walk two moons tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI cant belive that mike is not the lunatic because evrything lead to him. Acully i was not too surprised at the kiss that ben and sal did because it was too obvios during the book that they were going to kiss some way or another. One thing I was surprised is that Mike(the lunnatic) was sal brother. This chapter said that prudence liked mike something i would have even paid to see is evry ones face esspecialy prudences face when Mrs. Winterbotom reveild that mike was her son so I esspecialy wanted to see prudences face because she said she liked the new kid. JaJaJaJaJa.
ReplyDeleteP.S cant wait to finish book
I think that Sal should not have been there when Mrs. Winterbotton arrived with Mike. I belive that a family reunion should be family only. Not that I have something agensted Sal. I would have felt like an intruder if I was at someone elses family reunion.
ReplyDeleteWhen Ben and Sal kissed I was not surprised. Well first of all it was obivous it had to happend sometime in the story. Lucky Sal now she doesn´t only kiss tree´s! I also can´t wait to finish the book.
I think that Mrs Winterbottom should have mentioned Mike before she married Mr Winterbottom and should not of ran away without any information for her family. I think that it was kind of unexpected when Ben kissed Sal and that they both had the same idea at the same time. I think the journals where intresting and the reaction to the students.
ReplyDeleteCant wait to finish the book tomorrow
I cant belive whats going on!!!!!! Its just so amazing, Ms partrige leaving the letters, the lunatic turning up to be Pheobes half brother and worst of all Sal kissing Ben!!!!!! i think im going mad with all these things going on!!!!though I do agree with with Sal, PHEOBE SHOULD HAVE TOLD HER FATHER!!!!!!!!!!!! (Atleast I would.) I wonder how the ending is going to be!
ReplyDeleteP.S. if anyone who usually spoilds stuff and reads ahead, DO NOT READ AHEAD I REAPET DO NOT READ AHEAD.
I knew it Ben is in love with Sal! I had that prediction since a pretty long time ago! I agree with Nicolas Because I mean really? If you were in the same position as Phoebe would you keep the fact of your mom kissing a stranger called Mike that to you is a ¨potential¨ lunatic would you keep it hush hush from your dad? I would tell him right away. Im so exited! I bet Sal and her grandparents are going to bring her mom back or at least hope it happens. Mrs,Partige left the messages? I thought it was Mike. Im so exited! (I known I said it twice but I really am exited!)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that Mike the (supposed) lunatic is Pheobe's half brother!!! I think it was really obvious (at least for me) that Sal and Ben where going to kiss, because at school Sal was going to kiss him, but the kiss landed in the wrong place and in the library Ben was trying to kiss her, but she was walking away. What was weird was that Ms. Patridge was leaving the notes, that was a twist!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI would have never thought that Mrs. Partridge was the one who wrote the Mysterious Letters. It all makes sense now that I know that Mrs. Partridge was the one. The only question I have in mind is how/why the heck did she know when and why to put the right letters in the right order? If you look back at the chapters when she drops the letters on Phoebe's front door, you can realize that the letters make the right moral for every situation in wich she drops the letters. If she knew the right time and reason to write the letters and drop them off, how could she know how!? She was always at Mrs. Cadaver's house and was blind! It's impossible she could have spied on the Whinterbottoms if she could have never moved closer to hear or peek out the window to see what was going on at Phoebe's! I WANT ANSWERS.
ReplyDeleteA couple of hours before I wrote this post, I was telling my dad about Walk 2 Moons. He said it was very hooking and interesting. But I noticed I didn´t tell much about the beggining. Then, I remembered abou when Ms. Mac asked me how the book was going.I told her it was boring, and that it was really a lot less than what I expected. She told me it got better at the end. And I really wanted to answer ´´Yeah, sure! And USA is going to get 3 dollar bills!´´ But I just sighted. I imagined Walk 2 Moons as the greatest book someone could read.Today, I found myself chatting, and laughing about the book.How now, we all couldn´t wait to finish it. This very afternoon I was asking myself why the book was called Walk 2 Moons. And when I thought about the message,´´Don´t judge a man until you´ve walked two moons in his moccasins.´´ And it led me to, ´´Don´t judge a book until you´ve been 2 months, well, reading it!´´.

ReplyDeleteI agree in 2 things, Phoebe should have REALLY, DEFINATLY, told her family. And in that if someone spoils the book, I better get out my hatchet!
@alonso!!rios
ReplyDeleteBefore, I really liked Ms. Partridge.Now that I see she wrote those letters, I think it was sneaky, and disrespectfull of her to peek her nose in some other family´s life!!!
@lola
ReplyDeleteAll along the book I have really been thinking that Sal is bugging on other people´s buisness. Always there at the Winterbottom´s and NEVER with her dad! And I don´t have anything against Sal either.
Now that we ended the book, I would like to say that the reason I cried is mainly because Sal was waiting all along, being nervous, worried that she would not come in time, the right time to convince her mom to go back home. And all that for nothing. Sal was very, very disappoiinted. I would have been, too.

ReplyDeleteWhen Sal found out that there was a bus crash, and the man said that only one person survived. I thought that that was Sal's mom. I didn't knew that this story was a sad one. I still think that Mrs.Winterbottom does not deserve to be in Peeby's house. I still wish that Sal's mom was alive, even if she rejected to go back home.
I cried when I found out that Gram was dead, too. Not because I care more about Gram than Sugar; but becuase Sal lost her grandmother AND her mom. Mostly she knew at about the same time. Poor Sal. When I told the people in mty class that I cried they made fun of me but I don't care because it was really sad.
ReplyDelete@Ethel
ReplyDeleteI agree it was a sad ending with the loss of Gram and Sugar and that she did all that work to find out her mother was already dead and put grams life in danger. It was so unexpected that Sals mom died in a bus accident with Ms Cadaver and that Ms Cadaver was the only surviver. It was also odd that gram died right at the end.
Loved the book
I think that it was really depresing that Sal lost both her mom and gram almost at the same time ( not at the same time, but she didn't know so she at least though she was alive) it was really depresing.
ReplyDeletewas it you andrrew or ethel because it says andrew brierty @Ethel?????????????????
ReplyDeleteNow that i think about it I realized that she did know that her mother was dead because Ms. Cadaver told her, but then why did she wanted her mother to come back at the begining of the trip. Poor Grams.
ReplyDeletePs: I will also feel yealows about why did Pheobe's mom return and not mine.

ReplyDeleteto sratr with nico you always spoile the end
ReplyDeleteI agree it was a sad ending but the author added tooooo much sadness to the book. If the story went on i think that ben will go to (study there) and will be most of the time with sal and if the story went on they will going to marry amd sleep in their granfathers/mother marrieg bed to do that nowing wath happend it will make me cry );
ReplyDeleteQuestion why is EVRYONE PUTTTING @ SOMETHIN WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDear Mrs. Deutsch
ReplyDeleteI think that the ending is very sad, and when Sal found out that her mother had died in that bus, it reminded me about the time when I was in El Salvador and I just found out that the first dog I ever loved had died of arthritis. I cried and cried and realized that there would be a new star shining in the sky. When Sal's mother said that Sal was her left arm and she missed her left arm it made me think that Max was my left arm too. I am crying just writing this! Get it together Giovanna!
Sincerely, Your Edgar Allen Poe Fan
I think that this book is very sad, but that it has quite a happy ending. It is strange that Sal is crazy Ben kissing her on the lips because to me that us disgusting and I will never take part in that kind of behavior until I am 18.
ReplyDeleteEthel, I loved your comments, they were awesome. I think that you are goin to be a great writer some day. You were absolutely right that it seemed a little boring at first but then we all started to love it. I also think it was really sad at the end when Mrs. Deutsch started crying and at first I didn't know why her voice was beginning to shake and then when we got to the really sad part I understood and started to cry myself.

ReplyDeleteOh my god the ending was really sad I cant beilieve Sals mother was dead all this time its just so unbelievable and sad its also sad how Sals grandma dies! it reminds e of when my grandma died, it was such a sad story I really hoped that both gram and gramps survived but I guess that thats not going to happen.:( well anyway me and andrew b. discovered that sharon creech does have a dead mom and grandma because in one of her books she menshioned in the front, "In memory of my mother and grandmother." Very Very sad right if you agree with me blog about it, of you cried during the ending of the book (when they discover that Sals mom is dead) blog about it and finally if you think ms doucth crying was kinda funny ( no offense ms doucth and i think I spelled your name wrong.) blog it!!!!!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Dany I havent spoiled any ending in walk two moons Ive just made predictions two hole different things.
Wow I never knew to the end that Salamancas mothers bus whent flying of a cliff. I wasnt suprised about Gram dying. When the snake bit her I knew she would die. Although I wasnt crying I still think this book is sad(I didnt cry because Im used to these sad ending books). I knew that Ben loved Sal, I knew he would ask her on a date!(Ok I know that it was a valentine but still I think Its a date!) I am jelous that Phoebe got a new brother and her mother back and sal loses her mother and grandmother! That is so unfair that the main main character gets such sad ending and just Phoebe a girl who treats her mother like junk gets her mother and a new brother! }:( But when you think of it theres something that always doesnt end right with a happy ending to this story. I just think this story isnt interesting without that ending.
ReplyDeleteThe ending was so sad! :( :( I cried when I found out that Sal had gone on that trip to find that her mother hadn't survived the bus crash (well, not really crash, I should say, 'accident'), and when Gram died, it made the story even sadder because because Sal had just lost two very close people. I agree with Sal's father with not telling her that he knew her mother was dead because it might've made it worse if he had told her because when she saw her grave, it probably made her feel better when she saw that her mother was with one of her favorite things, a sugar maple tree. At least, that is my opinion.
ReplyDeleteOh, and also, when Sal found out that only one person survived the crash, I thought it would be Sal's mother, like Ju Young said, but it was sad because it wasn't her that survived.
ReplyDeleteThe ending of the book was so sad and happy.I'm surprised that Sal's mom died. I thought she was alive until the police showed her the grave of her mom.
ReplyDeleteI loved that book and want to read another one of her books.
@Ethel and Andrew
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with both of you. I cant believe Sharon Creech actually made Gram and Sal's mom die. It is a good book, but I just would have liked it if one of the two deaths would not have happened. But it was a nice trick there the author used to make you think the mom was alive until the end.
